This Spring, she is offering a Creating a Coping Skills Toolbox club at WES, which will be open to children in grades 2-5. They will focus on exploring the importance of having a variety of coping skills to manage life’s daily stressors and starting a “toolbox” that participants can continue using and adding to in the future. There will be a combination of teaching coping skills and practicing them together weekly, as well as crafting a related tool to add to their very own “toolbox” to remind kids of the strategies they learned and encourage them to continue practicing outside of group. Strategies will include emotion regulation techniques, mindfulness activities, sensory tools, movement, etc. The goal is for everyone to have a safe and fun space in which to increase awareness of their own emotional needs and find healthy tools they can incorporate into other areas of their life.
